We are seeking an experienced leader to provide strategic direction and coordination for a major government initiative. This role is critical in shaping and implementing regulatory and data transformation efforts that will improve operational effectiveness and safeguard key stakeholders.

As the Director, Strategy and Coordination, you will be responsible for delivering strategic, operational, and governance support to executive leadership, ensuring alignment with broader policy objectives. This is a high-profile opportunity to work in a complex regulatory environment, driving engagement, risk management, and decision-making across multiple agencies and jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities



Strategic Leadership & Coordination

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Program Manager, providing strategic insights and operational support.

  • Ensure alignment between objectives, organisational priorities, and stakeholder expectations.

  • Lead coordination across streams to maintain momentum, address roadblocks, and manage competing priorities.



Governance & Decision Support

  • Oversee governance structures, including preparation for steering committees, executive briefings, and ministerial reporting.

  • Manage risks and issues, ensuring effective escalation and resolution.

  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, reporting, and decision-making frameworks.



Stakeholder & Communication Management

  • Lead high-level engagement with government agencies, industry bodies, and other key stakeholders.

  • Develop and oversee communication strategies to ensure clear and consistent messaging.

  • Represent leadership in meetings and forums as required.



Operational & Delivery Support

  • Work closely with the PMO to ensure milestones, budgets, and resources are effectively managed.

  • Support executive-level recruitment, workforce planning, and capability development.

Essential Requirements

  • Extensive experience in the delivery of large, complex initiatives, policy implementation, or public administration.

  • Strong leadership, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills in a complex environment.

  • Experience in risk management, governance, and decision support at an executive level.

  • Highly developed strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to influence and negotiate with senior executives and external stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience in a Chief of Staff, Director, or senior advisory role within government.

  • Understanding of regulatory, legislative, and policy frameworks relevant to this role.

  • Qualifications in public administration, law, business, or a related field.
