Contract role

Our client is a global IT business who is looking to bring an experienced Infrastructure Engineer (VMware & Nutanix) to assist them with a massive datacenter migration project for their banking client.

About this role -

• Build, Configure and Deploy new x86 Platform infrastructure in a new Datacenter including Physical Servers, Nutanix, VMWare, Migration Tooling and any new servers as required.
• Build, Configure and Deploy migration tooling to be used as part of the Datacenter migration.
• Perform phased conversion and migration of VMs from Hyper-V in the current Datacenter to VMWare in the new Datacenter, ensuring TPIV post migration.
• Build, Configure and Deploy VMWare CSSP infrastructure.
• Troubleshooting and resolve technical issues encountered during Datacentre migration.
• Work closely with the PMO, Application SMEs, Infrastructure SMEs, Business Stakeholders and Architects on the planning and scheduling of migration workloads.
• Ensure technical documentation is updated and maintained to a high standard for all platforms, services, and applications in confluence.
• Decommission of old x86 infrastructure in the existing Datacentre once migration has been completed successfully

Key requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering, or other relevant industry qualifications.
• 7+ years' experience working in a similar role within the IT Service Provider / Mid-Large corporate environment.
• Proven experience designing, deploying, managing, and supporting on-premises infrastructure platforms including Nutanix, VMware & Microsoft Technologies such as Terminal Servers, PKI Infrastructure, Exchange & Active Directory, with a security focused approach.
• Experience with Datacentre migration planning and execution.
• Experience with SolarWinds deployment and configuration.
• Experience with developing complex PowerShell scripts
• Solid understanding of core networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, firewalls.
• Certifications - VMWare Certified Engineer and Microsoft Certified Engineer
