About the role


To be successful in this role, you will be experienced in management of application domains (production and non-production), tools and techniques applicable to a large scale, complex IM/ICT project environment to support the implementation of the ieMR.

Specifically, you will demonstrate knowledge of complex, multi-level non-production as well as production environments including:

  • Provide advice and guidance to DHBS in navigating the complexities of the organisations technical landscape as it pertains to ICT project delivery, for example:
  • New and existing system integrations
  • Domain management
  • Inter-project technical dependencies
  • Understanding and navigating around the technical roadmaps of dependant systems
  • Consult with and Support Test Manager and other key roles in non-production environment requirements, setup, and test readiness
  • Review technical and implementation documentation
  • Coordinate on behalf of Project Managers with eHITS, integrating system owners, Digital Health Solutions, System Integration Test team, Hospital and Health Services, Cyber Security Group, Oracle Health, etc to ensure an integrated system delivery
  • Facilitate product risk assessments and potential treatments
  • Technical liaison between key service providers (project, site and operations)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the System Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) to provide advice on integration of solutions
  • Understand testing strategies and frameworks to ensure the integrity of testing is essential as well as the ability to recommend and assess project test strategies, test products and cases are essential and recommend possible solutions

A flexible and adaptable approach is required and the ability to manage competing work priorities to meet deliverables without compromising outcomes is required to secure this role.

Crucially, you will bring a positive and proactive approach to work and be able to advise as part of a high performing team and build effective working relationships with team members and stakeholders to successful deliver the required project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

The Principal Technical Consultant (Domains and Environment) role requires a specialty skillset and the ability to:

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with QPS values as outlined above.
  • Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe, services and workplaces.
  • Manage the design of highly complex and multi-faceted infrastructure based systems including application solutions; server and network configuration and layout; environment planning and design; firewall planning; and user privileges, ensuring compliance with project requirements and safety engineering standards.
  • Influence and provide expert technical advice and leadership to Program/Project teams and key decision makers relating to ICT project infrastructure testing, development and on-going integration.
  • Oversee and lead ICT technical implementations within a project management framework across multiple complex and diverse change programs and initiatives based on clients' business and technical requirements.
  • Provide high level input and advice to the Manager Design Team on infrastructure development planning to ensure that service delivery meets future client demands.
  • Work closely with other Design, Project, Operations and Architecture Office staff to manage collaborative relationships and consultations with senior stakeholders across the organisation and external technology vendors to develop, implement and integrate required changes to architecture, design and management of ICT infrastructure.
  • Lead the continual development and improvement of technical designs and solution architectures and ensure strategic alignment to enterprise-wide business and ICT architectures within the whole of the organisation.
  • Liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders with a customer service focus, to resolve issues relating to technical concepts and ICT techniques and processes.
  • Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe, services and workplaces.

Mandatory qualifications / Professional registration / other requirements

This position requires:

  • While not mandatory, a relevant qualification would be well regarded
  • This position may require the incumbent to operate a government vehicle and an appropriate licence to operate this type of vehicle is required (Queensland 'C' class licence) and proof must be provided before commencement of duty.
  • Vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) - It may be a condition of employment for this role for the contractor to be and remain vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: COVID 19, Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella. Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
  • This role may necessitate occasional interstate travel as per business requirements.

Deliverables

Deliverables will be agreed with the Program Director at commencement of engagement for the delivery of the project in accordance with organisations standards and processes.

How you will be assessed

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key requirements, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the key responsibilities described above under '"About the Role', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability in designing, configuring and documenting enterprise systems with experience in some or all of the following hardware and software: Microsoft server and SQL, Citrix, VMware, Netware, Solaris, Oracle, various desktop applications and utilities, SANs, Comms, Dell, HP, Sun and IBM servers. (SFIA: DESN 5)
  • Extensive experience, including exposure to industry certifications, such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Certified Network Engineer (CNE) and Certified Citrix Administrator (CCA) (SFIA: TECH 6)
  • Knowledge of the ITIL Service Management and Service Delivery methodology, the Prince 2 Project methodology and utilising conceptual and analytical skills, respond to complex client business requirements. (SFIA: METL 5)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with multiple key internal projects, Operations and external technology vendor stakeholders by the use of high level written and interpersonal consultation, negotiation and communications skills including the ability to influence others.   • Ability to work individually and within a high performance team with time critical and financially constrained tasks and complex deliverables by providing guidance and supervision of other team members and project resources. (SFIA: PRMG 5) (NHS Self-Management) (NHS Collaborative Working)
