We are seeking an experienced RHEL Engineer to join our Canberra client on a 12-month contract with the potential for extensions. The successful candidate will be NV1 cleared and responsible for designing, testing, and deploying new versions of the RHEL operating system, as well as managing and maintaining the RHEL Identity Management (IdM) and Satellite platforms. This role will also involve server automation, integration with multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions, and system security compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and operate an integrated RHEL server platform, including RHEL Identity Management (IdM) and Satellite.
Design, test, and deploy new versions of the RHEL operating system.
Build and maintain system images and provide integration for VMware.
Integrate and support management and security software and configurations.
Implement and maintain server automation processes.
Ensure integration with MFA solutions for enhanced security.
Conduct regular system health checks, including hardware and software monitoring.
Develop and operate a backup and recovery service for virtualized RHEL systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve RHEL-related issues efficiently.
Manage server migrations when necessary.
Perform additional technical tasks as required by the Technical Team.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience in the design, testing, and deployment of RHEL operating systems.
Strong ability to work in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Expertise in RHEL Identity Management (IdM) and Satellite.
Hands-on experience with system automation and scripting.
Familiarity with VMware integration and management.
Solid troubleshooting skills and experience resolving Linux server issues.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies.
Familiarity with the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight security principles.
