The Role:

The SAP HR & Finance Systems Section within the Corporate & Case Systems Branch is responsible for developing and sustaining the Department's SAP landscape. The successful candidate will join the SAP HR team, which manages both project-based and business-as-usual (BAU) sustainment activities. These include handling change requirements, implementing system enhancements, performing system upgrades, and contributing to the delivery of the Enterprise Resource Planning system uplift strategic solution.

Key Responsibilities:
The SAP ABAP Developer will be responsible for delivering the following:

  1. Development and Enhancement:

    • Develop and implement changes/enhancements using ABAP technology for BAU and project work, adhering to SAP standards.
    • Design and code appropriate technical solutions.
    • Configure workflow, Smartforms, and Web Dynpro applications.
  2. Quality Assurance:

    • Conduct code reviews and other quality assurance tasks for projects and internally developed code.
  3. System Maintenance:

    • Develop, maintain, and unit test system components.
    • Prepare unit test cases and related documentation.
    • Update existing and create new system design documentation.
  4. Project Support:

    • Prepare project-related documentation at various stages of the project lifecycle.
    • Collaborate with business areas and project leads to ensure detailed design and development activities are accurately reflected in project plans.
    • Provide post-go-live maintenance and support.
  5. User Support:

    • Troubleshoot issues and provide technical support to end-users.
    • Deliver technical explanations and documentation as needed.
  6. Performance Optimization:

    • Coordinate or implement modifications to improve system performance.
  7. Tool Management:

    • Utilize and manage CHARM, Eclipse for ABAP Development, and other standard ABAP tools such as SE80, SE38, SE37, and Smartforms.
  8. Knowledge Transfer:

    • Transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure all documentation complies with the Department's recordkeeping policies and practices.

Expected Deliverables:

  • Technical specifications.
  • Updates to existing SAP system documentation.
  • Development of operational procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong experience in ABAP development, including workflow, Smartforms, and Web Dynpro.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete complex development tasks with minimal direction.
  • Familiarity with SAP standard tools and practices.
  • Experience in technical documentation, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to liaise with technical teams and business stakeholders.
