Position: Security Specialist

Security clearance: NV2 minimum

Location: Canberra

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Security Specialist to join our team, responsible for ensuring the secure design, assessment, and authorization of defence systems in accordance with CyberGRC frameworks. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), Information Security Manual (ISM) vulnerability management, and communication systems. This role requires proficiency in generating security artefacts related to CyberGRC and strong communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders in technical environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess proposed systems design against Security Branch criteria.
  • Engage proactively with the branch during the security accreditation process.
  • Collaborate closely with system designers and operators to gain comprehensive knowledge of systems and ensure alignment with CyberGRC requirements.
  • Provide alternate design recommendations to address security deficiencies as necessary.
  • Navigate the security assessment procedure to achieve necessary accreditations.
  • Produce high-quality security documentation for submission.
  • Work collaboratively with certification authorities to advance assessment milestones.

Essential Requirements:

  • Sound understanding of CyberGRC to progress assessment and authorization of defence systems.
  • Familiarity with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM) vulnerability management.
  • Understanding of communication systems.
  • Proficiency with security artefacts associated with CyberGRC frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical information to stakeholders effectively.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with the defence uniform and APS command structure.
  • Experience working in a defence tri-service, APS, and contractor environment.
