We require a hands-on Platforms Engineer with technical leadership experience. This role will act as the primary technical lead for the Platforms (DevOps) team, with responsibility for defining technical procedures, standards, and ways of working.

The role sits within a team of highly skilled platform engineers, within the Technology and Platform Solutions (TPS) division, part of the ITS branch.
The team has operational accountability and responsibility for designing, deploying, monitoring, and patching foundational applications. The team is also responsible for working with internal and external agile teams to deliver new and updated business applications into production (the majority of new applications being deployed onto Kubernetes). All deployed applications must follow standard patterns to minimise complexity and support costs.
All activities must follow modern Infrastructure as Code practices, leveraging automated CI/CD pipelines for deployments.

The candidate must have demonstrated strong technical skills in the following areas:

• Ansible.
• Git source control.
• Infrastructure as code builds and deployments (ideally with knowledge of Kustomize for deployments onto Kubernetes).
• Kubernetes platform deployments (ideally with Kubespray).
• Apache Reverse Proxy (ideally with mod_security).
  The candidate must possess the ability to learn new technologies and technical patterns quickly to support changing business requirements.
