Job summary:
We are seeking a skilled Server and Storage system engineer with a strong focus on virtualization technologies to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining server and storage infrastructure, with an emphasis on ensuring the smooth operation of virtualisation environments. You will connect to managed environment remotely with customers to resolve issues from simple, to highly complex, on Data Infrastructure products and services.


Responsibilities:

  • Effectively and efficiently handle different levels issues requiring more in-depth technical problem solving skills, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues.
  • Independently diagnosing and resolving storage networking and performance problems with server/storage environments.
  • Contribute to efficiency improvements from reducing customer issues to increasing team productivity through product changes and knowledge creation.
  • The ability to maturely and professionally manage and triage customer issues.
  • Energetic team player with excellent customer relationship skills.
  • Manage customer virtualisation environment based on VMware product, including configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines and virtual infrastructure.
  • Monitor server and storage performance, identify potential issues and proactively address them to ensure system uptime and availability. Develop and maintain server and storage policies, procedures, and documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with other IT teams to ensure efficient delivery of IT services to our customers. When necessary, escalate to the appropriate group (Engineering/Executive Team/Account Team) and be able to articulate the issue, the impact to the business and next steps.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, evaluate their potential impact on our infrastructure, and make recommendations for their adoption as appropriate.
  • Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery testing to ensure business continuity.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing HPE server and storage infrastructure, including experience with HPE ProLiant servers, HPE BladeSystem, and HPE 3PAR storage systems.
  • Experience with troubleshooting methodology/theory and outstanding problem solving skills.
  • Solid expertise in VMware technologies, including vSphere, vRealize, and NSX product, with VCP/VCAP certification is a plus.
  • Experience with server and storage management tools such as HPE OneView, HPE InfoSight, and HPE Smart Storage Administrator.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices and compliance standards.


Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of other virtualization technologies such as Microsoft Hyper-V and Linux virtualization, container is a plus.
  • Experience with Replication, Backup and Recovery applications and other products such as Veeam, Commvault, Vertias as well as VM migration process, Vmotion, clustering features.
  • Scripting / Programming knowledge such as Powershell, Shell script is a plus
